Abstract

In the H 3BO 3-H 3PO 4-HAc buffer solution medium at pH 10.9,calcium(Ⅱ) reacts with DBC-arsenazo to produce a 1∶2(M∶R) blue complex. The maximum absorption wavelength of the complex is at 620nm and the apparent molar absorptivity of the method is e max =1.86×10 4L·mol -1 ·cm -1 .Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0-1.4μg/mL of calcium. The method has been applied to the determination of calcium in water samples with satisfactory results.
