Clinical analysis of nasal cavity adhesion after functional endoscopic sinus surgery

[Objective] To discuss the causes and management methods of nasal cavity adhesion after functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). [Method] 46 sides of nasal cavity adhesion in 496 cases (704 sides) after FESS were analyzed. [Result] 21 patients had adhesion of meddle turbinate with lateral wall of nasal cavity. The openings of maxillary sinus of 18 patients were found closed. In 5 sides adhesion of meddle turbinate with nasal septum was found. And 2 other cases with adhesion of inferior turbinate with nasal septum were found. [Conclusion] The measures of preventing adhesion of nasal cavity include: careful preparation before operation, gentle and skillful operation technique, follow-up after operation and clearing operation cavity.
