Abstract

Objective The study was designed to evaluate the value of color Doppler ultrasonography(US) in the diagnosis of small breast tumors (diameter less than 20mm) Methods The breast US was performed on 67 cases with 91small breast tumors. The characteristics of gray scale US imaging and color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI) were compared and summarized. The US results were compared with pathologic diagnosis. Results Compared with pathology, the accuracy of US in the diagnosis of small breast benign tumors was 92.6%(50/54), while for small breast malignant tumors was 89.2%(33/37). There were differences between benign and malignant tumors on longitudinal-transverse ratio, post acoustic echogenicity, intra-tumoral color flow signals and flow parameters. Conclusion The combination of gray scale US and CDFI improves the diagnostic accuracy of small breast tumors.
