Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of high-frequency ultrasound in diagnosis of knee joints arthritis. Methods Sixty-eight knee joints of 34 patients complaining of arthrocele and pain were examined with high-frequency ultrasound, then the images were analyzed retrospectively. Results Intra-articular fluid was found in 29 patients(58 joints),synovitis of joints was found in 21 patients(42 joints),articular cartilage damage was found in 11 patients(22 joints),joint corpus liberum were found in 2 patients(4 joints),bone erosions were found in 15 patients(30 joints),and Baker cyst was found in 6 patients(6 joints) with high-frequency ultrasound. There were some similar ultrasonic manifestations between rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Conclusion High-frequency ultrasound is valuable in examining the knee joint damages, especially for detection of membrana synovialis.
