Abstract

Objective The therapeutic strategies of severe brain injury are discussed. Methods A total of76 patients with severe brain injury admitted to our hospital between June 2003 and June 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Results Among 76 cases,22 got generally recovery or moderately disabled( 29%),10 were severely disabled( 13%),and 44 died( 58%). Conclusion The outcome of patients with severe brain injury can be improved by early diagnosis, clear airway, standard decompressive craniectomy, maintenance of homeostasis, and prevention of complications such as brain infarction, central hyperthermia and gastrointestinal bleeding.
