A Commentary on Fung Yu-lan's Study of Wang Guo-wei

Fung Yu lan made a quite perfect research in to Wang Guo wei's philosophic and aethetic achievments in the 69th chapter of the 6th volume of A New Edition of A History of Chinese philosophy. He affirmed the philosophic and aesthetic achievments of Wang and highly appraised Wang's introductions of Western philosophy and aesthetics, especially his thorough understanding of Kant's philosophy and aesthetics which is a part of his most important learned foundations. He made comments on the theoretical values of Wang's two aesthetic fundamentals and analysed the relations between Wang's aethetics and plato, kant and Schopenhauer's. Fung pointed out correctly the cause of Wang's suiside for the former Ching Dynasty. Fung made comments upon Wang's philosophic and aesthetics correctly as a whole. Fung had an understanding of Wang's theory more exactly than many contemporary scholars, such as Qian Zhong shu etc.
