Abstract

Most of the researches on Wang Yang-ming's earlier experience are based on Qian De-hong's The Chronicle of Wang Yangming,which emphasizes on Wang's deference with Zhu Xi and the important factors that shifted Wang's interest from Buddhism and Taoism to Confucianism.However,the position of Mr Qian invites discussion.This paper analyses the earlier experience of Wang from the following points:First,Wang's failure of cognizing the bamboo and his emphasis on the art of spoken and written language;Second,Wang's discordance with Zhu that leads to his disease and his emphasis on maintaining health;Third,Wang's realization of the accuracy and inaccuracy of Buddhism and Taoism;Finally,Wang's initiating of the theory of human mind and nature and his making friends with Zhan Gan-quan.
