The postoperative pain relief and long-time outcome of three root filling pastes after one-visit root canal therapy

Objective:The purpose of this study was to compare the postoperative pain relief and long-time outcome of AH Plus,Vitapex,and Cortisomol pastes after one-visit root canal therapy.Method:A total of 180 selected teeth were randomly allocated into the three paste groups.The pain intensity was recorded according to the response evaluation standard one week after treatment.The long-time outcome was recorded according to the curative effect evaluation standard 3,6 and 12 months after treatment.Result:①The difference of pain intensity between AH Plus and Cortisomol paste group was not significant,while the pain intensity in Vitapex paste group was significantly different from the former two groups(P 0.05).②The long-time outcome in the three groups showed no statistical difference.The Vitapex paste group showed better effect in periapical periodontitis cases than the other two groups(P 0.05).Conclution:The AH Plus and Cortisomol paste are more effective to release the postoperative pain.However,Vitapex paste showed better effect in periapical periodontitis cases.
