Abstract

Objective To study the protective effect of ginkgo leaf extract on alcoholic liver injury in rats. Methods Thirty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, and treatment group. The model of alcoholic liver injury was made. The ALT,MDA,TNF-α,and IL-8 levels of serum and liver tissue were assayed, and liver tissue samples were examined pathologically under optical microscope. Results The levels of ALT, MDA,TNF-α,IL-8 in model group were significantly higher than those in control group and treatment group ( P 0.01).Severe pathological changes in the liver were found in model group while the liver lesions in treatment group were slight. Conclusions Ginkgo leaf extract has protective effect on the alcoholic liver injury.
