Abstract

Objective To observe the protective effect of ginkgo biloba extract on rats with acute liver necrosis. Methods Intraperitoneal injection of 10% D GaIN was given to produce acute liver necrosis. The rats were divided into Model Group,Prevention Group 1 and 2 (given ginkgo biloba extract),Positive Control Group (given Oleanolic Acid Tablet)and Normal Control Group (given steamed water of same amount);Stomach perfusion was given once a day for 7 days, and then fast started. After fasting for 24 hours, the rats were killed and the blood and liver tissues were taken for pathological examination. Results PAF and ALT in blood in Model Group raised greatly, the pathological examination showed significant degenerative necrosis in liver cells, while in Prevention Group, clear improvement were found in all the index, and the pathological damage decreased. Conclusions Ginkgolide has certain protective effect for liver as it can partly block the damage of PAF to liver.
