Effect of Donkey-hide glue iron oral solution on leukopenia in mice

Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe the effects of Donkey-hide glue iron oral solution(DGI) on mice leukopenia models induced by cyclophosphamide(CTX).METHODS Mice leukopenia models were established by i.p.injection with CTX and then treated with DGI.The levels of peripheral hemogram(PH),thoracic gland index(TGI),spleen index(SI),liver index(LI),bone marrow karyocyte count(BMKC) and cell life cycle(CLC) were determined.Pathological sections of bone marrow karyocyte were observed.RESULTS DGI could obviously raise the counts of white blood cell(WBC),heamoglobin(HB),red blood cell(RBC),thoracic gland index(TGI),spleen index(SI)and the differences were statistically significant(P0.05).DGI could promote recovery of cell life cycle(CLC) for bone marrow karyocyte(P0.05).CONCLUSION DGI has an apparent leukogenic effect on CTX induced leukopenia in mice.
