Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of Vitamin A and 4HPR on the proliferation and apoptosis of Hela cells. Methods The influence of Vitamin A and 4HPR on Hela cells proliferation was observed by clony-forming test and Nude mice carcinogenic test.Morphologic changes and the biochemical features of Hela cell apoptosis were performed by electron microscope and DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. Results Vitamin A and 4HPR could inhibit the colony-forming of Hela cells and could inhibit the tumorigenesis effect of Hela cells(P0.01).The tumorigenesis effect of Vitamin A was stronger than 4HPR(P0.01).It was found that Hela cells had obvious morphological changes under electron microscope:cell pyknosis, karyotheca twist, nuclear chromomocre collected to lump and close to karyotheca.Cell DNA was degraded,Typical DNA ladder appeared in agarose gel electrophoresis. Conclusions Vitamin A and 4HPR could inhibit the proliferation of Hela cells and induce Hela cells apoptosis.
