Zhang Zhidong's Viewpoint on Chinese and Western Culture in His Book"The Book of Advising Learning"

As a thinker in late Qing Dynasty,Zhang Zhidong put forward his viewpoint on Chinese and western culture in his famous book The Book of Advising Learning.Namely,Chinese culture was the main part and had western culture for its use.His method of reconciliation was using western culture to supplement Chinese culture. His theory had a deep impact on the thinking circle in late Qing Dynasty.However,it was impossible to achieve the goal as he expected because of the contradictions of his thinking mode itself.
