For the influence of Confucian classics,Zhang Zhidong took part in the Qing Liu Party which weren't engaged in foreign affairs.While with the deepening of the cognition,he realized the importance of foreign affairs and later he became the main force of the Westernization Movement.The radical people advocated reforming Chinese political and cultural system and learning western political cultural system, etc.But all these positions were met with strongly against from the diehards.Under this situation,Zhang Zhidong put forward a compromise proposal.
