Abstract
Objective:In order to asses the value of colposcopy in diagnosing cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted against the results from 528 patients detected by colposcopy from October 2004 to June 2006 in our hospital Results:Of the 528 patients,321 cases were detected by both biopsy and colposcopy.Among the 321 cases, 76 cases were diagnosed as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(GIN)by colposcopy, whereas only 51 cases were confirmed as CIN by biopsy, with a consistency of 67.11%.No significant difference was found(P0.05)between the results from colposcopy and biopsy in diagnosing GIN by test t.Besides,324 patients were detected by both colposcopy and Thin-prep cytolosy test(TGT).It was showed that the higher the grade of cellular diagnosis rose according to Thin-prep Cytolosy Test, the less normal film was ob- tained according to colposcopy. Conclusion:As an important method to find cervical precancerosis and cancer in earlier stage, colposcopy was paid more and more attention by clinicians. It has many advantages such as indirecdy contacting patients,no dam- age against patients,no harmful effect on patients and suitable cost. Thus, colpyscopy could be regarded as the best method to screening CIN and earlier cervical cancer in China. However, the confirmation of CIN and earlier cervical cancer is still dependent on biopsy.
