Abstract

Objective To explore an ideal method of surgery to reduce recurrence rate of pterygium surgery. Methods 306 patients (349 eyes) were divided into three groups. The first group (156 eyes) was treated with pterygium excision. The second group (102 eyes) was treated with excision of pterygium and fresh amniotic membrane transplantation. The third group (91 eyes) was treated with limbal stem cells auto graft transplantation. All patients had been following up for 6~60 months, then compared the recurrence rate. Results The first group recurrence rate was 28.20%,the second group was 3.92%, the third group was 3.29%.Conclusion The pterygium recurrence rate was reduced with limbal stencils auto graft transplantation, and fresh amniotic membrane transplantation. The methods of pterygium surgery is worth spreading.
