Effect of Yanghuobaji oral liquid on estradiol level in ovariectomized rats

Objective To investigate the effect of Yanghuobaji oral liquid(YHBJ) on estradiol level and kidneyand -yin replenishing in ovariectomized rats.Methods 48 female SD rats were sham-operated or ovariectomized, and randomly divided into 6 groups including the sham-operated group,the model control group,the diethylstilbestrol group(2.25×10~(-5) g · kg~(-1) ) and three YHBJ groups with low(1.0 g · kg~(-1) ),middle(3.0 g · kg~(-1) ) and high(6.0 g · kg~(-1) ) doses.After treatment for 15 days,the level of serum estradiol was detected by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).The organ index of adrenal and uterus were also detected.Results Compared with model control group,YHBJ treatment increased the organ index of adrenal and uterus in ovariectomized rats in a dose-dependent manner(P0.05,P 0.01).The serum estradiol level in the high-dose YHBJ group was significantly higher than those of the model control group(P 0.05 ). Conclusion YHBJ may contribute to the effect of kidney-and-yin replenishing.
