Saccharification and Ethanol Fermentation of Corn Stalk Pretreated by Enzymatic Hydrolysis and Wet-milling

Abstract

In this study,the corn stalk was pretreated respectively by cellulase and xylanase hydrolysis combined with wet-milling,and then the saccharification and ethanol fermentation of the pretreated corn stalk at different concentrations were carried out by using commercially-available cellulase and yeast,respectively.The results showed that when the enzymatic hydrolysis concentration of the corn stalk pretreated by cellulase or xylanase combined with wet-milling was all 6%,the maximum recovery rate of reducing-sugar was obtained,being 37.2% and 33.5% respectively.In the ethanol fermentation process,it was found that the maximum alcoholicity was 3.0% and 2.8% respectively as the corn stalk solution which had been hydrolyzed by cellulase and xylanase was at the concentration of 11%.
