Abstract
Three ternary complexes of the rare earth ions(Pr3+,Nd3+,Er3+) with o-Phenanthroline and Schiff base condensated with salicylaldehyde and L-Phenylalanine,were synthesized in ethanol solution, and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet spectroscopy, thermal gravity and differential thermal analysis. The formulas of the complexes were confirmed to be RE(L)(Phen) Cl(H2O)(RE= Pr3+,Nd3+,Er3+;L= Schiff base which was condensated with salicylaldehyde and L-Phenylalanine).The antibacterial activity testing showed that all these complexes exhibited hroacantimicrobial spectra and excellent antibacterial ability against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
