Expression and significance of VEGF and E-cadherin in colorectal carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To explore the indictors for evaluating the prognosis of the patients with colorectal carcinoma.Methods The expression of VEGF and E cadherin in the primary focus of colorectal carcinomas and metastastic lymph nodes in the samples of 32 patients with colorectal cancer in our hospital was detected by using immunohistochemistry.The relationship between the expression of them and clinicopathologic character of cancer was analyzed. The positive staining of VEGF and E cadherin was mostly located at the cellular membrane in the primary focus of colorectal cancer with the positive rate being 50% and 34.4% respectively.The positive rate of VEGF in neoplasm was relative with the degree of local infiltration and metastasis of lymph node.Conclusion The overexpression of VEGF and low expression of E cadherin are relative with the degree of local infiltration and metastasis of lymph node in colorectal carcinoma.They can be used as auxiliary indexes to evaluate the prognosis of patients with colorectal carcinoma.
