Abstract

[Purpose] To investigate the expression of miR-29 and its relationship with microvessel density(MVD) in gastric cancer.[Methods]The expression of miR-29 in 113 cases with gastric cancer and 30 cases with normal gastric mucosa was tested by real time PCR.The microvessel density in gastric cancer was measured by counting CD34 signal.[Results] The relative quantity of miR-29 expression in gastric cancer tissue was significantly lower than that in normal gastric mucosa tissue(2.62±1.17 vs 3.31±1.18,t=2.897,P0.05).There was a negative correlation between the expression of miR-29 and MVD in gastric cancer tissues (r=-0.587,P0.05).[Conclusion] Low expression of miR-29 promotes the microvessel formation in gastric cancer,it is a potential tumor suppressor miRNA
