Abstract

Objective To study the role and clinical implications cance of calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) in the development of pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) syndrome. Methods Plasma CGRP levels were measured in 55 cases of PIH patients, 50 cases of late-pregnant women, and 52 cases of non-pregnant women, with radio immune assay . Results Though the level of CGRP in pregnancy group was lower than that in control group, there was no statistical significance (P0. 05) ; the level in the PIH group was significantly lower than those in the pregnant group and the control group (P0. 001) ;there were significant statistical differences among mild, moderate and severe PIH groups (P0. 05). Conclusion Decreasing of plasma CGRP level has certain effect in the development of PIH; the change of CGRP level is a useful indicaton in evaluating the patient's condition and prognosis.
