Abstract

Objective To observe the changes and significance of serum prealbumin(PA) in evaluation of hep0atic disease. Methods The levels of prealbumin, albumin(ALB),total protein(TP) in 217 patients suffering from hepatic disease(experimental groups which was divided into five subgroups:(A) HbsAg carriers,(B) acute hepatic,(C) chronic Hepatic,(D) hepatic cirrhosis, and(E) hepatoma) and 40 healthy persons(control group),were determined and analyzed. Results All of three biochemical parameters were obviouly lower in the subgroups of hepatocirrhosis and hepatoma(P0.05 or 0.01).There were significant difference in level of serum PA in subgroup A and B,but not ALB and TP.There were also significant differrences in level of serum PA before and after treatment. Conclusion PA is a more specific and sensitive parameter in evaluation of hepatic function than the others, meanwhile it is helpful for prognosis.
