Abstract

Objective:To study distribution of bacteria in infants eye infection and restistance to commonly used antimicrobial drugs,so as to proivide the evidence for clinical rational use of antimicrobial agents. Methods: Bacteria culture and drug susceptibility test were carried out on eye secretions from 339 suspected ophthalmia patients, and the results were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Among 339 bacteria culture specimens, bacterial growth were found in 119 cases(35.10%);121 pathogenic strains were isolated, including 68 gram-positive bacteria strains(68/121,56.20%,most were staphylococcus aureus and coagulase negative staphylococcus, high drug resistance to penicillin and erythrocin),48 gram-negative bacteria strains(48/121,39.67%,most were klebsiella pneumoniae, eschericha coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa, high resistance to ampicillin),2 neisseria gonrrhoeae strains and 3 fungus strains. Conclusion: Antibiotics use in clinic should be based on drug susceptibility test results of pathogenic bacteria,in order to avoid abuse and blind medication, ensuring rational, safe and effective drug use on children.
