Abstract

Based on the fundamental theory of the non linear finite element method, and with the help of the software ANSYS/LS_DYNA, this article presents the numerical simulation of the structural crashworthiness of thin walled aluminum and A3 steel beams with typical cross sections submitted to axial load. A test of the axis crash is carried out for verifying the simulation, which shows that the simulation result has a strong correlation with the test data.
