Abstract
With finite element analyses on a new model of homemade car,the techniques of complete vehicle modeling, moving deformable barrier modeling, numerical simulation and structural crashworthiness analysis for side impact are studied systematically.Test results verify the validity of complete vehicle model.Side crashworthiness analysis is based on structural deformation response, including deformation, deformation energy, and deformation velocity, etc.A comprehensive analysis on the relationships among impact force, dummy injury, structural deformation, and other responses is performed by utilizing time sequence diagram of crash response. And a set of CAE analysis process is summarized for car lateral crashworthiness analysis and its validation.
