Abstract

Objective To evaluate the correlation between the level of serum lipoprotein a LP(a)] and coronary heart disease. Methods 160 patients under coronary angiography were divided into three groups: acute coronary syndrome (ACS,n=60),stable angina pectoris (SAP,n=40) and controls (n=60, coronary angiography is normal). The concentrations of serum LP(a) were measured and compared. Results The levels of LP(a) in ACS and SAP patients were higher than the controls. The levels of LP(a) in ACS patients were higher than the SAP patients. There was a positive correlation between the level of LP(a) and the extent and severity of coronary artery disease. Conclusion The extent, severity and destabilization of coronary artery disease were correlated with the elevated level of LP(a).
