Association between Plasma Lipoprotein(a) Level and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract

Objective:To study the possible association between plasma lipoprotein(a)Lp(a)level and severity of coronary arteriosclerosis in Chinese patients.Methods:152 patients undergoing selecting coronary angiogmphy were enroled in this study.The patients were classified according to the numbers of coronary artery with stenosis.The difference of the level of Lp(a) between subpopulation was analyzed.Results:The plasma Lp(a) level was higher in patients with coronary stenasis than that of the control,there were significant difference(P0.01).The plasma Lp(a) level increased with the numbers of coronary stenasis,There were significant difference(P0.01).Conclusions:A positive correlation exists between plasma Lp(a) level and the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.Plasma Lp(a)is a an independent risk factor to assess the risk of coronary artery disease.
