Abstract
The effect of kinetin(KT) solutions on cut flowers of Gladiolus hybridus and its physiological effects was studied.The result showed that the treatment of 30 g/L sucrose + 30 mg/L KT could significantly improve the water balance in cut flowers of G.hybridus,raise fresh weight,improve ornamental value,postpone the time of reaching the maximum fresh weight and ornamental value,extend the vase-holding life by increasing activity of POD,SOD and delaying the increase of MDA contents in cut flowers.KT could mainly increase fresh weight,meliorate ornamental value,improve activity of antioxidant enzymes and decrease the level of membrane lipid peroxidation.While sucrose could promote flowering rate,extend ornamental effect.
