Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and relation between p16 protein and VEGF in breast cancer. Methods Expressions of p16 protein and VEGF were tested in 53 breast cancer tissues with SABC immunohistochemical methods. Results Positive respectively rates of p16 protein and VEGF in 53 breast cancer were 54.7% (29/53) and 79.25% (42/53). Expressions of p16 protein and VEGF were not correlated with patient's age, tumor size, menopause,ER and PR ( P 0.05 ). A significant negative correlation was found between the expression of p16 protein and the histological grade, clinical TNM stage,lymph-node metastasis ( P 0.05 ). Expression of VEGF is correlated with histological grade and lymph-node metastasis ( P 0.05 ).Conclusion There are significant correlation between the expressions of p16 protein and VEGF in breast cancer, they may be cooperative effects in the occurrence and development of breast tumor, and they could be used as an important biologic marker for breast cancer.
