Ancient prose movement of the Tang and Song dynasties was a movement to establish a new style. In setting up this new style, intellectuals explored the form, gathered the forms and gradually found the correct form in which art prose expresses people's feelings and conveys people's thought. From pre Qin period to Tang and Song Dynasty, China's literary world went through many repetitions from simplicity to complexity, and from complexity to simplicity——this process actually was that of style evolution and change, and underlying motivation of essay genre transformation.
