Abstract
Objective To determine whether Venlafaxine combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy(CBT) is effective in the treatment of depression in Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods A total of 70 patients with PD were randomly assigned into the study group(treated by venlafaxine combined with CBT) and the control group(treated with venlafaxine alone). Before treatment and on the forth and eighth weekend after treatment,Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD,17 items) was used to evaluate the degree of depression. Results On the forth and eighth weekend after the treatment, the mean HAMD in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P0.05),and the HAMD was significantly lower in the study group than those in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Venlafaxine combined with CBT is more effective than venlafaxine alone in the treatment of depression in Parkinson's disease.
