Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation between polymorphism of gene paraoxonase Gln-Arg 192 (PON-1 Q/R 192) and cerebral infarction (CI).Methods The polymorphisms of gene PON-1 Q/R 192 from 375 patients with CI and 339 persons without cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments length polymorphism method. All the genotypes were analyzed and the correlation with blood lipids was evaluated. Results The PON-1 Q/R 192 genotype distribution in the all subjects studied was 13.6% of QQ, 44.0% of QR and 42.4% of RR, respectively. There was no significant difference in PON-1 Q/R 192 allele and genotype distribution between CI group and control group ( P0.05). No significant association between Q/R 192 genotype and blood lipids was found. Conclusion The polymorphism of PON-1 Q/R 192 gene is not associated with CI.
