Abstract

Objectives:To compare the efficacy of local anesthesia using 4% articaine and 2% procaine in extraction of teeth. Methods:One hundred and twelve patients(142 teeth) were selected and divided into two groups. They were randomly applied by submucous infiltration anesthesia or nerve block anesthesia by using articaine or procaine in extraction of teeth. The degree of pain during the injection and extraction of teeth and the persistent time of the anesthesia were then observed and analyzed. Results:The pain degree of anesthesia using articaine was much slighter than that of procaine during the injection and extraction of teeth( P 0.01), and the persistent time of anesthesia of articaine was lo nger than that of procaine. The well anesthesia rat was 91.7%. Conclusions:Articaine is a safe and effective anesthetic medicine for oral surgery.
