Abstract
Objective To study the effect of Telmisartan on obesity and serum lipids of SD rats fed with high-fat diet. Methods Forty SD rats were randomly divided into control group, control and treatment group,high-fat diet group,high-fat diet and treatment group, which were treated with normal diet, normal diet and gastric perfusion of Telmisartan,high-fat diet, high-fat diet and gastric perfusion of Telmisartan respectively.Body weight of the rats were recorded weekly. The serum lipids and the weight of epididymides and retroperitoneal adipose tissue were measured ten weeks later, then Lee's index was calculated. Results The body weight of rats in high-fat diet group was significantly higher than that of rats in control group,high-fat diet and treatment group(P=0.046,P=0.035).The increase of body weight and visceral adipose mass of rats in the high-fat diet group were significantly higher than that of rats in high-fat diet and treatment group(P=0.012,P=0.024).The level of triglyceride(TG) was significantly higher in the high-fat diet group than the high-fat diet and treatment group(P=0.002),but the level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c) was significantly lower in the high-fat diet group than the high-fat diet treated group(P=0.023).Conclusions Telmisartan can inhibit the increase of body weight of SD rats induced by high-fat diet, and improve the serum lipid disorders simultaneously.
