Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of p16 in the carcinogenesis of cervical cancer. Methods:The expression of p16 in the tissue of 46 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and 41 cases of uterine cervix cancer were examined by using immunohis-tochemical method SABC Ten cases of normal tissues acted as control. Results:Expression of p16 in the tissue of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia was higher than that in the control(P0.05),and that low in the tissue of cervical cancer was lower than that in the control(P0.05).In the cervical cancer group, the expression of p16 was correlated to the histological grade, clinical stage and lympho node metastasis(P0.05).Conclusions:The results suggest that p16 may play an important role in the carcinogensis of cervical cancers. The low expression of p16 is correlated to the malicious biological behaviors of cervical cancers.p16 may be used as an important maker to evaluate the malignancy degree and the prognosis of cervical cancer.
