Abstract
This paper deals with the trematodes of birds from Jiangxi, China, collected during 1975-1985. There are thirty-two species of trematodes, belonging to two subfamilies and ten genera of family Dicrocoeliidae Odhner, 1911. Twenty-six species ire listed in Tableal, and six new species are described. All the measurements are in mm. The type and paratype specimens are deposited in the Microbiological Institute, Jiangxi Academy of Sciences.1. Lutztrema dicruri sp. nov. (fig. 1)Host: Dicrurus leucophaeus leucogenis (Walden).Locality: Liver and bile ducts.Location: Jinxian County (28°65'N, 116°31'E).Discussion: This species is distinguished from closely related species Lutztrema leptosomum Chin et Ku, 1976; L. vanelli Bai et Liu, 1977 and. L. sturni Skrjabin et Evranova, 1952, in having body surface smooth, widest of body at the vitellaria zone; body width-length ratio 1:16.2-19.2; oral sucker to acetabulum diameter ratio 1:1.15-1.20; testes oval, larger than the ovary; vitelline follicles comparatively large, situated at the anterior 1/2 of posterior half of body; eggs 0.027-0.032×0.019-0.023.2. Brachylecithum (Brachylecithum) spizixosi sp. nov. (fig. 2)Host: Spizixos semitorques Swinhoe.Locality: Liver and bile ducts.Location: Shecheng County (26°27'N, 116°31'E).Discussion: This worm is very similar to B. (B.) asovi (Layman, 1926) Shtrom, 1940 and B. (B.) nanum Denton et Byrd, 1951; but differs from both in having widest of body at the anterior testis zone; testes very large; perpendicular-oval; 0.41×0.18; Ovary subglobular, 0.115× 0.104; Eggs oval, small, 0.029-0.019.3. Brachydistomum gaoanense sp. nov. (fig. 3)Host: Acridoiheres cristatellus cristatellus (Linne').Locality: Liver and bile ducts.Location: Gaoan County (28°43'N, 115°36'E).Discussion: 10 species of this genus have been known, 3 species of them with body width-length ratio over 1:10: and other 6 species with oral sucker to acetabulum diameter ratio over 1:2. The new species with body width-length ratio 1:5.5-6.1; oral sucker to acetabulum diameter ratio 1:1:57-1.62; ovary transversally elliptical, conspicuous larger than the testes; vitellaria consisting of medium-sized follicles, 20-24 in each side; therefore it differs from closely related species B. salebrosum.4. Megacetabulum coracinum sp. nov. (fig. 4)Host: Coracina melaschistos (Hodgson).Locality: Liver, and bile ducts.Location: Lianhua County (27°15'N, 113°15'E).Discussion: This species differs from all the other species of this genus in having the body width-length ratio 1:9.4; oral sucker to acetabulum diameter ratio 1:2.5; pharynx larger; anterior testis close to hind edge of acetabulum; ovary larger than the testes; vitellaria close to hind edge of ovary with length about one eighths of body, not extending to posterior half of body.5. Zonorchis acridotheres sp. nov. (fig.5)Host: Acridothteres cristatellus cristatellus (Linne').Locality: Liver, and bile ducts.Location: Lianhua County (27°15'N, 113°15'E).Discussion: This species is closely similar to Z. hartwichi Odening, 1964; but differs from the latter distinctly in: body elongate lobe-shaped, surface smooth; widest at hetween the testes and the ovary; body width-length ratio 1:5.9-6.2; oral sucker to acetabulum diameter ratio 1:1.5-1.8; testes samller than or equal to the ovary; eggs 0.041-0.044×0.027-0.032.6. Zonorchis cylindriformis sp. nov. (fig. 6)Host: Coracina melaschistos (Hodgson).Locality: Liver and bile ducts.Location: Lianhua County (27°15'N, 113°15'E).Discussion: This species closely resembles Z. petiolatus (Railliet, 1900) Demon et Byrd, 1951; but differs from the latter distinctly in; Body elongate-cylindriformed, widest at the acetabulum zone; body size 4.16-4.83×0.49, body width-length ratio 1:9-10; vitellaria commenc-ing at between the testes and the ovary, terminating at anterior half of body, not extending to posterior half of body; ovary conspicuous, larger than the testes.
