Abstract

There are twenty-five species of trematodes, belonging to nine genera of Family Dic-rocoeliidae Odhner,1911,collected from the liver, bile duct and gall bladder of some birds from Hai Nan Dao,Guangdong Province and Western Yunnan Province,China. All of these species are different from hitherto described species from other provinces of China.Seventeen species are listed in Table 1,and four new species known in Table 2,and are described as follows. The measurements of the organs are in mm.,and eggs in μ.The type and paratype specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology,Acade-mia Siniea.1.Brachydistomum hainamense sp.nor.(fig.1)Host: Malay house swift,Apus affinis subfurcatus(Blyth).Location:Liver.Locality: Yu Lin,Hai Nan Dao,Guangdong Province. Date: May 24,1963Frequency: Three specimens in one of the hosts.Discussion: There are 4 species with body width-length ratio 1: 4-6 in the genus Brachydistomum, our worm being shorter and with body width-length ratio 1:4-4:6.It differs remakably from B.hysipetum and B.api by sucker ratio and shape of vitellarine follicle, from B.yunnanense by having uterine loops between acetabulum and gonads and shape of vitellarine follicle, and from B.ohsoni by gonads overlapping each other, vitellaria distribution and unmber of follicles.2.Brachylecithum megacetabulum sp.nov.(fig.2)Host: Chinese laughing thrush,Garrulax Chinese lochmius DeignenLocation: Liver.Locality: Jian Peng Ling,Hai Nan Dao,Guangdong Province.Date: June 8,1963.Frequency: Six specimens from one host.Discussion: Morphologically this species closely resembles the genus Megacetabulum Osehmarin,1964,but differs from the latter in having in anterior margin of vitellaria situated at the ovarian region, shorter vitellaria, and bigger and fewer follicles. This species belongs to genus Brachylecithum Shtrom,1940.It differs from all the other species of this genus by having sucker ratio 1:3 and a projecting acetabulum.3.Brachylecithum spinosum sp.nov.(fig.3) Host: Malay house swift,Apus affinis (Gray).Location: Liver.Locality: Yu Lin,Hai Nan Dao,Guangdong Province.Date: May 24,1963.Frequency: Only one specimen from a host, mixed infection with Brachylecithum apium sp.nov.Discussion: This species closely resembles Brachylecithum loossi (Layman,1926) in the arrangement of both testes and vitellaria, but differs from the latter distinctly in: (1) body length longer;(2) the anterior testis nearly continuous with the acetabulum only separated by a loop of uterus;(3) position of the vitellaria with only few vitelline follicles. It bears spines on the forebody, thus differing from all the other species of the genus.4.Lyperosomum pomatorhinium sp.nov.(fig.4)Host: Hai Nan lesser scimitar babbler,Pomatorhinus ruficollis nigrostellatus Swin-hoe.Location: Liver.Locality: Wu Zhi Shan,Hai Nan Dao,Guangdong Province.Date: May 12,1963.Frequency: Four spcimens secured from three of one host.Discussion: This species differs from the most closely related Zonorchis petiolatus (Railliet,1900) Denton et Byrd,1951 (syn.: Lyperosomum petiolatum Railliet,1900) in the ratio of width to length of body, the length of inter-sucker space less than that of the acetabulum, the position of anterior extent of the vitellaria and its length, and the smaller size of the eggs.
