Abstract

Objective: To explore the influence of self-awareness and family function on higher elementary school students' coping style.Method: Piers—Harris Children's Self-awareness Scale,the Functions of the Family Rating Scale(FAD), and self-made Children Coping Style Questionnaire are used to investigate the students.Results: There is significant correlation between students' level of self-consciousness and coping style in that their level of self-consciousness has positive correlation with problem solving and has negative correlation with self-blame and withdrawal behaviors.In addition,there is correlation between students' family function and coping style.Multiple regression analysis reveals that factors that can predict positive coping style are behavior,appearance and attribute,well-being and satisfaction,problem solving and general function,And factors that can predict negative coping style are situations of intelligence and school,anxiety and communication.Conclusion: There is correlation between higher elementary school students' coping style and their self-consciousness and family function.
