Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus joint lysis in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods Acupuncture and joint lysis were used to treat 90 patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis (treatment group). A control group of 76 patients were treated with medicine. Both groups performed functional exercises. The therapeutic effects were compared after two courses of treatment. Results After two courses of treatment, the total efficacy rate was 93.3% in the treatment group and 82.9% in the control group; there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P0.01). Conclusion Acupuncture plus joint lysis has a marked therapeutic effect on scapulohumeral periarthritis.
