Abstract

The complex reaction of chloramphenicol(CHP) and alizarin red(ALZR) was investigated by spectrophotometry. The optimum experimental conditions were established, and a simple and rapid method for the determination of chloramphenicol has been developed. Results showed that the ratio of chloramphenicol and alizarin red in the composition of complex was 1∶1 in Britton-Robinson(B-R)-ethanol solution at room temperature. The apparent molar absorptivity of the complex was 1.19×104 L/(mol·cm)at 474 nm.The Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 2.0×10-7~3.0×10-5 mol/L for chloramphenicol with a correlation coefficient of 0.9985.The relative standard deviation was 0.86%(n=10),and the recovery was 99.4%~101.2%.
