The application of butorphanol and propofol anesthesia for hysteroscopy.

Objective To investigate the effects and safety of butorphanol and propofol during operation of hysteroscopy.Methods 60 ASA Ⅰ～Ⅱ patients undergoing outpatient hysteroscopy were randomly divided into two groups.In the Fentanyl group(F group)anesthesia was induced with Fentanyl l μg/kg and propofol 2mg/kg,whereas in the butorphanol group(B group)was butorphanol 20 μg/kg and propofol 2mg/kg,anesthesia was maintained with propofol when needed.The following were recorded and compared in the two groups:the time of unconsciousness,operation time,recovery time from anesthesia,discharge time,the total doses of propofol;the side effects,anesthesia satisfaction rating and hemodynamic and respiratory changes during anesthesia;pain visual analog scale(VAS).Results There were no significant difference between groups regarding age,weight,the time of unconsciousness,operation time,recovery time from anesthesia,discharge time and the total doses of propofol(P0.05);The RR after induction was significantly lower at group F compared with group B(P0.05).The incidence of cough,apnea,PONV were lower at group B than group F(P0.05).However,There were no significant difference between groups regarding VAS of pain and anesthesia satisfaction rating.Conclusion 20μg/kg butorphanol combined with propofol anesthesia for outpatient hysteroscopy is satisfactory and safe,and appears to be superior than fentanyl and propofol,but there is still potential risk of respiratory depression.
