Abstract

Objective The therapeutic effectiveness of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with CT guided percutaneous lipiodol-ethanol injection (CT-LPEI) for no operation primary hapatocellular carcinoma was compared with that of TACE only. Methods 45 cases was treated with TACE while the other 44 cases was treated with.TACE and CT-LPEI. Results With TACE 1-,2-,3-year survival rate were calculated to be 68.5%、24.6%,and 7.2% respectively.Histologic examination showed that TACE along caused complete necrosis in 21% respectively. In contrast,TACE combined with CT-LPEI 1-,2-,3-year survival rates were 100%,58.4% and 27.8% respectively.Combination therapy produced complete histologic necrosis in 85% that was significantly (P0.05) higher than that of TACE alone. Conclusion The therapeutic effects of TACE combined with CT-LPEI were significantly better than that of TACE only.
