Abstract
Hu Ceng was famous in late Tang Dynasty for his great number of historic poems. Based on a thorough review of the rhyming feature in his poems, it is to find that the present paper not only attempts to testify the reliability of Wang Li's study of the phonetic system from late Tang Dynasty to Wudai Dynasty, but also presents the phonetic features of the spoken language of the time. Hu Ceng's poems provide an excellent database for the study of the phonetic system in that time.
