Abstract
The poems of WANG Chang-ling,a famous poet in the flourishing Tang Dynasty,provide an excellent database for the study of the phonetic system of that period.The rhyme of his modern-styled poems falls into 21 classes,and his ancient-styled poems ,32.Most of his poems employ strict rhyme schemes,which conform to those in Guang Yun.支脂之微and 萧宵肴respectively merge into one class.In spite of the change of rhyme,repetition of the same rhyming word and the use of peculiar rhyming words,few of his poems are out of rhyme.
