Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin,a fourth-generation fluoroquinolones,in treatment of the acute urinary tract infection. Methods A random double-blind control trial and an open-labeled trial were conducted in the study. The trial group:the patients were given moxifloxacin 400 mg tablet and a piece of placebo in the morning, two pieces of placebo at night. The control group:levofloxacin tablets 200mg po twice daily. The open group:moxifloxacin 400mg tablet po qd.The therapy duration was 7~14 days.A total of 66 patients were enrolled in the study and each group includes 22 cases. Results The clinical effective rates in three groups were 63%,59%,and 75% respectively at the 1st day after finishing the therapy. The bacterial clearance rates after treatment were 100%,100% and 80%,respectively.The bacterial sensitivity of moxifloxacin and levofloxacin were 100%,superior to other fluoroquinolones. In the clinical trial, there were no severe adverse effect occurred. The incidences of adverse effects have no statistic significance among 3 groups. Conclusion Moxifloxacin was an effective and safe antibacterial agent in the treatment of acute urinary tract infection
