Effect of esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops on pseudo-accommodation of intraocular lens eye with different ages

Abstract
Objective To study the effect of esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops on pseudo-accommodation of intraocular lens eye with different ages.Methods Fifty-six patients(60 eyes) that underwent phacoemulsification and monofocal intraocular lens implantation from September 2010 to August 2011 in our hospital were chosen and randomly divided into experimental group(30 cases,30 eyes) and control group(26 cases,30 eyes).The patients in experimental group after surgery received esculin and digitalisglycosides and diclofenac sodium eye drops,and the control group only received diclofenac sodium eye drops,3-4 times per day in all patients.The uncorrected distant visual acuity,near visual acuity,near visual acuity under best corrected distant visual acuity and corrected near visual acuity before surgery and 1 week,4 weeks after surgery were examined,the amplitude of accommodation was measured by a negative lens-shift method,and the indexes were statistical analyzed.Results The best corrected distant visual acuity at 4 weeks after surgery in experimental group of all ages was 0.83± 0.19,which in control group was 0.81±0.16,there was no statistical difference(P0.05).The near visual acuity under best corrected distant visual acuity in experimental group was 0.31±0.05,which in control group was 0.20±0.05,there was statistical difference(P0.05).At 4 weeks after surgery,the pseudo-accommodation power of intraocular lens in experimental group of all ages were higher than that in control group,there were statistical differences(both P0.05),and the effect of esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops on pseudo-accommodation power in experimental group of all ages were negative correlated with age(r=-0.312).Conclusion Esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops can increase the effective pseudo-accommodation of intraocular lens eye,and the effect of esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops on pseudo-accommodation power is negative correlated with age.
