Influence of Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops on accommodation of eyes after laser in-situ keratomileusis surgery

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical effects of Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops on accommodation of eyes after LASIK.METHODS Two hundred myopic patients(400 eyes) treated by LASIK were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group(97 patients,194 eyes) and control group(103 patients,206 eyes).On the first day after LASIK,the treatment group was given Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops;the control group was given Sodium Hyaluronate eye drops.The treatment course was about 1 month.The simple eye amplitude of accommodation,lag of accommodation and positive /negative relative accommodation were measured before surgery,one week and one month after surgery.RESULTS 1.The simple amplitude of accommodation and positive relative accommodation of both groups descended one week after LASIK while increased one month after LASIK.There were significant differences(P0.05).2.The simple amplitude of accommodation's changes of postoperative one week and one month were significantly larger than that of pre-operation(P0.05).The positive relative accommodation's changes of postoperative one week and one month were also significantly larger than that of pre-operation(P0.05).CONCLUSIONS Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops could improve the patients' accommodative functions.
