Abstract

Objective:To observe the effect of single-visit root canal treatment(RCT)on teeth with chronic periapical periodontitis. Methods:There were one hundred and eighty teeth with chronic periapical periodontitis, which were randomly divided into two groups:single-visit RCT group and multiple-visit RCTgroup.Analysed the rate of post-obturation pain after three days and the rate of success after one year. Results:The rate of post-obturaion pain after three days in single-visit group was significantly higher than that in multiple-visit group. No statistical difference was observed in success rate of RCT between two groups,Conclusion:In order to prevent the post obturation pain after single-visit RCT for chronic periapical periodontitis, dentists must know the anatomy and variation of teeth, prepare root canal sterile, decrease the physical, chemical and biotic irritations.
