Clinical analysis on treating chronic periapical periodontitis with single-visit root canal therapy

Objective To research an effective way of treating chronic periapical periodontitis and evaluate the clinical curative effect of single-visit root canal therapy.Methods 1200 teeth of chronic periapical periodontitis were treated in different methods,which involved single-visit root canal therapy(treatment group)and multiple-visit root canal therapy(control group).The two groups were followed-up or observed 1 year and 2 years after the operation.Results After 1 year,the achievement ratios had no statistical significance between the treatment group(71.3%) and the control group(74.1%)(P0.05).2 years follow-up had the same result between the treatment group(85.4%)and the control group(85.6%)(P0.05).Conclusion Single-visit root canal therapy is one of the more effective methods for the treatment of periapical periodontitis.It is of many good qualities,and quick,effective,convenient and easy to perform.
